Mexican priest and martyr (1859-1927), of Jalisco, parish priest of Nochistlán who continued to minister underground during the Cristero persecution; arrested while celebrating Mass clandestinely and shot at Yahualica without trial. Among the 25 Saints of the Cristero War canonized 2000 by John Paul II.
