Polish priest and theologian (1390-1473), professor of Sacred Scripture at the University of Kraków for some forty years; renowned for personal poverty (gave away even his shoes), pilgrimages to Rome and Jerusalem, and devotion to Christ Crucified. Canonized 1767 by Clement XIII.
