Chinese diocesan priest martyred in 1815, one of the 120 Martyrs of China canonized by Pope John Paul II in 2000. Originally a soldier escorting Bishop Gabriel Dufresse to martyrdom, he was so moved by the bishop's witness that he asked for baptism and was later ordained. Feast (with Companions) July 9.
