Italian-born Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem from 1206 to 1214, papal legate, and reformer; gave the original Carmelite Rule to the hermits of Mount Carmel around 1209, providing the foundation of the Carmelite Order. Assassinated at Acre in 1214. Feast September 17.
