St. Paul the Apostle was an apostle to the Gentiles (c. 5-c. 64/67), Saul of Tarsus, Pharisee and Roman citizen who as a persecutor of the Church was converted by a vision of the risen Christ on the road to Damascus (Acts 9). Founder of the great churches of Asia Minor and Greece during three missionary journeys; author of thirteen New Testament letters.
Beheaded outside Rome under Nero. Joint feast with St. Peter June 29; Conversion January 25.
