Turn it over and the devotion declares itself: the Miraculous Medal reverse, the Virgin standing with her hands lowered and open, and beneath her the letter \u003cstrong\u003eM\u003c\/strong\u003e surmounted by a cross with a bar, ringed by stars.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThat reverse is the design Saint Catherine Labouré was shown at the Rue du Bac in Paris in 1830, when Our Lady asked that a medal be struck to this pattern and promised graces to all who wore it. The M beneath the cross is Mary standing beneath her Son, and the stars are the crown of the woman of Revelation. The rose on the front is her flower too, so both faces say the same thing in different languages.
