Roses climb from a small disc at the base of the frame, and the reverse of the same piece shows the back of the standing figure with an ornamented monogram worked into that disc.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe disc is dated \u003cstrong\u003e11 FEV. 1858\u003c\/strong\u003e, the eleventh of February 1858, the day Bernadette Soubirous, out gathering firewood at the grotto of Massabielle, first saw the Lady there. The date records the apparition rather than the piece. The roses belong to the same account, since Bernadette described a rose lying on each bare foot.
