The reverse is left flat and given entirely to text, headed \u003cstrong\u003eASSISI\u003c\/strong\u003e, with a star above and the Tau, Francis's own sign, cut in below.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe Latin is the blessing Francis wrote out in his own hand for Brother Leo on Mount La Verna: \u003cem\u003eMay the Lord bless you and keep you; may he show his face to you and have mercy on you; may he turn his countenance to you and give you peace.\u003c\/em\u003e He took the words from the priestly blessing in the Book of Numbers. Leo kept that parchment for the rest of his life, and it survives in Assisi still.
